Professional Tree Care Services in Charlotte, VT
Trusted Tree Care Since 2003
Tree Care Built for Charlotte's Landscape
Charlotte isn't one kind of property — it's lakefront estates along Champlain, wooded hillsides near Mount Philo, and working farms on either side of Route 7. That range calls for arborists who understand what each setting demands. Teachers Tree Service has been that team for Charlotte homeowners for over two decades.
Tree Care Services in Charlotte
Here’s a look at all the services we offer:
Tree Pruning & Trimming
We prune for health, structure, and safety — including vista pruning to preserve lake and mountain views on Charlotte's hilltop and shoreline properties. Every job follows ANSI A300 standards.
Tree Removal
Our crews handle everything from straightforward yard trees to complex lakefront takedowns requiring technical rigging or crane service. We plan every removal before the first saw starts and leave the site clean.
Emergency Tree Service
Our crews provide 24-hour emergency response for storm damage, fallen trees, and hanging limbs. We prioritize situations with immediate risk to people or structures.

Insect & Disease Treatment
Our arborists identify and treat the insects and diseases affecting trees across Charlotte, from early-stage infestations to advanced decline. Treatments are tailored to the specific pest, the tree species, and the time of year.
Fertilization
Deep root fertilization delivers nutrients directly into the root zone where your trees can use them. This is especially valuable for mature trees showing thin canopies, undersized leaves, or slow recovery from stress.
Tree Preservation
Sometimes the right call isn't removal — it's intervention. We use structural support systems, growth regulators, root collar inspections, and targeted treatments to extend the life of trees that are worth saving.
Tree Planting
We help you select the right species for your site and plant them properly, so they establish strong root systems from day one.
Soil & Root Zone Management
Many tree health issues start below the surface. Air spading, root pruning, mulch ring installation, and soil amendments address the underground problems that often show up as canopy decline.
Habitat Enhancement
We remove invasive species, install native plantings, and provide targeted management to support wildlife habitat and ecological health on your property.
Woodlot Management
Our woodlot services include selective thinning, invasive species control, and forest health planning for Charlotte properties with wooded acreage. Few tree companies in the region offer this service.
Get a Proposal for Your Charlotte Property
Every project starts with a visit from one of our consulting arborists. They'll walk your property, evaluate your trees, answer your questions, and put together a detailed proposal.
Why We Love Caring for Charlotte's Trees
Greg Ranallo didn't just start a tree care company near Charlotte — he chose to live here. From the quiet backroads that run through East Charlotte, to the views from Mount Philo, the natural beauty and strong sense of community draw people to this town. And that connection to the land shows in the way property owners here invest in their trees, not just when something goes wrong, but as part of ongoing stewardship.
These are some of our favorite spots to visit around the area:
Mount Philo State Park: The oldest state park in Vermont, with one of the best panoramic views in the Champlain Valley.
Philo Ridge Farm: A regenerative farm and restaurant with some of the best food in the region, set on rolling hills above the lake.
Charlotte Town Beach: Where half of Charlotte ends up on a hot July day. The kind of low-key Vermont swimming spot that makes this town what it is.
Pease Mountain: A University of Vermont Natural Area with wooded trails that climb to ridgeline views of both the Green Mountains and Adirondacks.
Charlotte Wildlife Refuge and Park: A treasured town conservation area where we're currently protecting ash trees from emerald ash borer in partnership with the Town.
Clemmons Family Farm: A historic African American-owned farm and cultural site, one of only a handful in the state.
The Covered Bridges: Seguin Covered Bridge and Holmes Creek Covered Bridge are two of Charlotte's most photographed landmarks, tucked into the rural landscape of East Charlotte.
Red Onion Cafe: The kind of neighborhood spot where you run into someone you know every time.
DID YOU KNOW?
Teachers Tree Service provides tree care for many of the places that make Charlotte special — from Mount Philo State Park and the Charlotte Wildlife Refuge to local farms like Philo Ridge Farm and Clemmons Family Farm. It's one of the ways we invest in and give back to the community we call home.
Protecting Charlotte's Ash Trees
Charlotte has a long history of caring about its trees. The town's Tree Warden program has been proactive about emerald ash borer preparedness, including a detailed inventory of roadside ash trees and the Hamilton Champion Tree Roster — a catalogue of the town's largest trees by species, maintained by the Rutter Family Tree Fund.
We've partnered with the Town of Charlotte and the Rutter Family Tree Fund to protect several ash trees on public property, including trees at the Charlotte Wildlife Refuge and Park, along Ferry Road near the town offices and library, and Charlotte's champion white ash at the corner of Thompson's Point and Lake Roads.

What Charlotte Residents Should Know About Tree Work
A few things to keep in mind before starting tree work in Charlotte:
Lakefront Properties: Tree removal and vegetation clearing within 250 feet of Lake Champlain is regulated under Vermont's Shoreland Protection Act.
Town Property & Rights-of-Way: Charlotte's Tree Warden oversees tree work on town land and must approve removal or pruning on town property, public rights-of-way, and Thompson's Point.
Underground Utilities: Call Dig Safe at 811 before stump grinding, root zone work, or planting.
Power Lines: Contact Green Mountain Power at 1-888-835-4672 if a tree is growing into lines — do not approach or trim it yourself.
