Office Assistant

We are a growing, dynamic and professional local arboriculture company that improves the health, beauty and safety of the outdoor living environment in northwestern Vermont.
If you enjoy organizing information, collaborating with teammates, talking with clients, and learning new things you may be our new Office Assistant! In this role you will:
Manage routine office functions
- Answer phones professionally, directing calls and inquiries to appropriate staff
- Prepare and maintain business documents including letters and reports, routine and as-requested
- Collect and sort the mail
- Manage and maintain office filing systems (physical and digital)
- Manage and order office supplies as-needed
- Perform other administrative duties as assigned.
Support our arboriculture field crews
- Report directly to our Operations Manager
- Schedule Vehicle & Equipment maintenance and repairs
- Act as commissary for uniform pieces, personal protective equipment, and first aid supplies
- Purchase tools & supplies as directed
- Coordinate travel arrangements for staff to attend regional and national trade conferences
Build relationships with our clients
- Receive client requests for our services and enter them in our business management software
- Monitor municipal and state request-for-proposals notifications
- Respond to general email inquiries
- Learn about business management, arboriculture, and teamwork
Desirable skills: Minimum one year of experience in administrative or office environment. Excellent customer service and communication skills, an affinity for organizing and running systems, and an ability to prioritize multiple tasks. Experience with Microsoft and Google apps, and online service apps including payroll, fleet, financial, and business management platforms. Valid driver’s license and clean driving record. Proven ability to work independently with clear goals, accountability and support.
Benefits: Flexible part-time schedule (approximately 20 hours per week). Competitive salary ($24-26/hr) and benefits package (details will be provided to qualified candidates).

If you enjoy working outside, learning new skills, and have a clean driving record you may be a great candidate for our professional arborist crews.
As a member of our crew you will:
- Contribute to all aspects of arboriculture including tree planting, pruning, fertilizing and other plant health care treatments, whole tree removals, and stump grinding.
- Work and learn daily with experienced and professional arborist crew mates under the direction of a crew leader.
- Operate and maintain equipment including chainsaws and other power tools, chippers, articulated loader, and remote-controlled stump grinder.
- Receive paid on-the-job practical and safety training, as well as opportunities for professional advancement as a climbing arborist, plant health care technician, commercial vehicle driver, crew leader, and ISA Certified Arborist.
- Receive paid holidays, accumulate paid time off, and qualify for a retirement savings plan with an employer match.
- Be required to complete a post-offer physical & drug screen, and pass a background and motor vehicle check.
Preferred certifications and skills: ISA Certified Arborist, First Aid/ CPR, Vermont Pesticide Applicator’s License, Vermont Commercial Driver’s License. Experience operating heavy trucks and equipment, towing trailers, and/or small engine maintenance and repair.
